Maurice Clemmons

Maurice Clemmons, the man associated with viciously cold bloodily murdering four police officers in Lakewood Washington. Clemmons who has been a lifetime criminal with five felony convictions in Arkansas including child rape, and eight felony charges in Washington State, he was first incacerated in 1989 with sentences totaling 108 years in prison. In 2000 Clemmons was granted clemency by former Presidential Candidate and former Governor of Arkansas Mike Huckabee. In his petition to Huckabee, Clemmons wrote he came from "a very good Christian family" and was "raised much better than my actions speak". Huckabee cited the unusually long sentence for Clemmons' age at the time the crimes were committed, and was released on parole.

In 2001 he was convicted of aggravated robbery and assault and sentenced to 10 years in prison but was released in 2004 on parole. Then Again in 2009 he was charged with four felony charges of assault and malicious mischief, he posted 40000 dollars bail the next day and was released without ever seeing a judge. Then on July 1st 2009 he was arrested and charged with child rape, Pierce County prosecutors claimed the recent events amounted to a violation of Clemmons' parole in Arkansas, and that he faced years in prison if he was returned to the state. The Arkansas Department of Community Correction notified Pierce County on July 22 that they did not intend to extradite him and that Clemmons should be adjudicated on his Washington charges. Stephen Penner, a deputy prosecuting attorney in Pierce County, said of the Arkansas decision, "There's a built-in incentive to not following through. In a way, the more violent they are, the less you want them in your community." Bail was set at 150,000 dollars, less than what prosecuters sought, on Nov 23 Clemmons posted the bail and secured his release.

Then on Nov 29th, One week after he was released, Clemmons went into a Tacoma area coffee shop and excecuted four armed police officers with a handgun, which is messed up that one guy with a gun could kill four cops and escape. A massive manhunt ensued and on Dec 1, a lone police officer from Seattle was investigating a broken down car on the side of the road. Clemmons approached the officer and details are sketchy but Clemmons wound up good and dead, the officer probably saw him and wasted him, and good on the cop, Clemmons did not deserve any kind special treatment, you kill four cops like that and youre pretty much a goner, no questions asked.

After everything is said and done, why was Clemmons, a person who is obviously very sick, with a criminal record so long allowed to walk the streets with everyday people, In my opinion this guy should have been locked up in a hole nice and tight, if he was none of this would have happened. I know there are rules and people can be given a second chance, however, i think Clemmons abandoned that choice a long time ago, the law was not used properly here.
